Pupil Premium

What is the Pupil Premium Grant?

The Pupil Premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gaps between them and their peers. Each year, this funding is deployed by school in a range of ways to support disadvantaged pupils and this is reviewed each September to identify the impact it has had.

Where does the funding come from?

Pupil Premium is allocated to schools based on the number of children who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals, whose parents serve in the Armed Forces and children who have been looked after in local authority care continuously for more than six months.

Why do schools get the extra funding?

The purpose of the Pupil Premium is to help schools to provide targeted support for vulnerable children- not necessarily just children who qualify for FSM.

As in previous years this funding is in addition to the school’s budget and represents a major investment in pupils.

At Wembley Manor School we have a tiered approach to Pupil Premium, based on 'The EEF Guide to the Pupil Premium' of High-Quality Teaching, Targeted Academic Support and Wider Strategies. This tiered approach is helpful in making decisions regarding the allocation of funding, energy, training and time.

Our 3-year plan from 2024/2025 – 2027/2028

To prioritise spending, we have adopted the tiered approach for each category. Within each category, we have chosen a number of interventions. This focused approach ensures the best chance of success for each intervention. Please see our Pupil Premium Strategy statement for more information.
